MANAGER, HUMAN RESOURCES (Staffing)

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Superintendent of Human Resources, the Manager works closely as a member of the Human Resources Administration team to provide leadership and support to the organization on all human resources related issues. Providing strategic leadership to the Staffing portfolio, the Manager (Staffing) will be responsible for oversight of teaching and support staffing processes; directing recruitment and selection for all Board positions; and developing innovative tools, strategies, and client education processes to ensure the Board is successful in recruitment, retention, and staffing of all locations within the Thames Valley District.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishes strategic short and long term plans and provides direction to department staff regarding staffing, recruitment and retention, leaves management, salary administration, and related labour relations processes.
Leads the Staffing team by identifying and establishing priorities, distributing work and resources, assigning project teams, providing coaching and training, and articulating a clear vision which supports and enables staff to excel in the delivery of services
Contributes to the organization by leading and promoting a positive labour relations environment and a safe and healthy workplace that is respectful of all and in compliance with collective agreements and workplace related legislation
Manages complex Human Resources projects cross-functionally
Provides Human Resources expertise, consultation and advice to the Senior Admin Team, managers, supervisors and employees in areas including staffing assignments and allocations, leave provisions, recruitment and retention strategies, coaching and performance management, and contingency planning
Supports talent management and performance process by facilitating appropriate training and learning opportunities for staff
Ensures that legal requirements and government reporting regulations are in in compliance and addressed as necessary through policy development and or change in practices
Provides input and supports negotiations and implementation of Collective Agreements for Staffing matters. Advises on the application, interpretation and administration of collective agreements and workplace related legislation related to the Staffing portfolio
Demonstrates exemplary interpersonal, and relationship building skills to successfully engage with staff at all levels of the organization
Demonstrates strong ability to deal with conflict and ambiguities with a focus on positive outcomes and resolution
QUALIFICATIONS / PAST EXPERIENCE
Completion of a university degree in human resources, business administration or social sciences or a degree combined with a post-secondary program in human resources or equivalent. Preference will be given to individuals who possess the CHRL or CHRP designation or equivalent.
Minimum of seven years of experience as a HR generalist including labour relations. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading HR functions that build and sustain a high-performance culture and team, including experience leading teams of professionals in complex unionized environments. This position will require a focus on Staffing, recruitment and retention.
Successful candidates will be required to submit an original Criminal Background Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening
Salary Range:
$149,151 - $162,716
