Start Date: To be determined
Status: Temporary, Full Time (Anticipated 12 months contract)

Salary: $52,125 (Starting) to $76, 085 (at 30 Months)

Position Summary:  
The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for shipping, receiving, and recording deliveries for the London Police Service. This position also administers and supports activities related to inventory for Quartermaster and Stationary Stores.
           
Responsibilities

• Receive and distribute packages, parcels and other goods delivered to the London Police Service (LPS).
• Accept and sign for deliveries and pick-ups for/from the organization.
• Notify departments and members of supplies and/or equipment for pick-up.
• Receive, log, and sort packages, parcels and other goods delivered to the LPS.
• Ensure packages, parcels and other goods are received in good order, and record damaged goods.
• Dispose of excess packing material (e.g., wood skids and cardboard).
• Ensure confidential documentation arriving by courier is secured in appropriate area.
• Prepare outgoing shipments and ensure accurate completion the appropriate paperwork.
• Track courier packages, providing tracking documentation to the requestor.
• Maintain up-to-date shipping and receiving logs.
• Weigh packages, determine method of shipment, arrange shipment, and prepare shipping documents.
• Monitor freight charges to obtain the most cost-efficient shipping rates.
• Liaise with custom authorities and broker to provide necessary documentation and ensure compliance with customs clearance process and regulations.
• Provide resolution to shipping and receiving discrepancies in coordination with appropriate personnel.
• Administer activities related to the inventory process for Quartermaster and Stationary Stores.
• Pick and pack goods and supplies to fill authorized uniform and equipment requisitions.
• Issue authorized Quartermaster stocked uniform and equipment according to established procedures and policies.
• Complete cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Participate in annual inventory audit process.
• Provide front-line customer service to Quartermaster Stores counter, responding to inquiries and requests as required.
• Enter data of incoming and outgoing transactions to the Inventory Management System and internal record keeping ledgers.
• Assist with purchasing/ordering and receiving of product related to Quartermaster and Stationary Stores.
• Assist with shredding of purged documents and used/obsolete uniform and equipment.
• Assist with incoming and outgoing mail delivery process, such as receiving, logging, and sorting mail and distributing inter-departmental mail to appropriate areas.
• Operate and perform basic maintenance of postal machine, including arranging for its service and maintenance.
• Ensure appropriate level of mailroom, shipping/receiving and courier supplies is maintained.
• Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.

• Secondary School Diploma or equivalent plus work-related program up to one academic year in duration.
• 6-12 months’ related experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills where problems, situations and responsibilities are covered by standards, precedents, and procedures.
• Effective communication skills required for regular in-person contact with members of the public to give, obtain and/or exchange routine information or decisions requiring general discussion and explanation to ensure understanding.
