POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is a highly organized professional responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing, benefits administration, and general accounting support. This role ensures compliance with employment standards, maintains accurate records, and provides exceptional service for payroll and benefits inquiries. A proactive and detail-oriented individual, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator thrives in a dynamic environment while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00, plus Benefits
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Preparation and administration of multiple bi-weekly payrolls (currently 5) for company employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy and compliance with employment standards.
- Bi-weekly benefit deductions and remittances to the appropriate agency.
- Reconcile and analyze the payroll registers and general ledger on a bi-weekly or regular basis.
- Prepare journal entries and forms, such as records of employment, income tax forms, and remittances.
- Issue ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including all year end processing.
- Address and resolve all inquiries related to payroll and benefits questions.
- Implement salary increases, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments as per provided instructions and in compliance with the guidelines set by the provincial Employment Standards Act and the L.H. Gray Employee Handbook and internal policies.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Prepare monthly remittances and cheque requests for employee expenses, etc.
- Prepare, reconcile, and process government payments: WSIB, EHT, CRA.
- Handle the daily processing of multiple benefit programs, including the enrollment of new employees and updates to employee status through wage or benefit program changes.
- Benefit program administrator of the health plan, RRSP plan and EAP benefit plans or other health plans as implemented.
- General accounting duties as assigned.
- Prepare month end payroll working papers.
- Record and reconcile bank transactions from payroll records.
- Process accounts payable invoices as related to employee expenses and payroll deductions.
- A minimum of 2 years’ of demonstrated experience in payroll and benefits administration.
- Completion of a recognized payroll certification (PCP) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience and a willingness to pursue the PCP designation.
- Experience with ADP is an asset.
- Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and excellent organizational skills.
- Self-starter who enjoys a dynamic challenging work environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detailed oriented, takes pride in preparing high quality work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
