Position: (2) Garage Attendant, Fleet, Finance and Facilites Division                   
Start Date: (2) As soon as possible (Anticipated Fall 2024)
Status: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: $56,918 (Starting) to $78,224 (at 30 months)                                  

Position Summary:              
The Garage Attendant reports to the Supervisor, Fleet Operations and is responsible for daily fleet vehicle and user requirements of operation. This includes cleaning, fueling, and maintaining products for all London Police Service (LPS) equipment. Garage Attendants work independently and as a team in a high traffic service environment to provide ready for service equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, clean, and fuel London Police Service (LPS) vehicles with propane, gas, or diesel.
  • Conduct visual inspection of vehicles for damage, check tire pressure, check and fill fluids (oil, washer fluid, etc.) and complete minor repairs as required.
  • Clean and sanitize interior and exterior vehicle surfaces, including biohazardous cleaning where required.
  • Inspect and replace vehicle emergency equipment.
  • Respond to disabled vehicles and conduct off site minor repairs where necessary.  
  • Replace and or repair batteries, tire/wheel assemblies, wipers, lights, etc.
  • Assign and schedule vehicles to LPS members as requested and follow accommodations as directed.
  • Deliver vehicles offsite for repair where required.
  • Conduct snow removal on LPS property using the necessary equipment (e.g., plowing, shoveling, and salting).
  • Communicate directly with all members for operations and safety.
  • Ensure LPS vehicles and storage locations are secured.
  • Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.

Requirements
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License.
  • Propane License (training provided on-the-job).
  • 6-12 months’ experience in the automotive/service industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and judgment required for decisions that usually involve selecting from one of several optimal or existing set of solutions or protocols; accuracy and quality of work; and operating several types of equipment and basic maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills for regular contact with colleagues and members of the public to give, obtain and/or exchange routine information or decisions requiring general discussion, and explanation to ensure understanding.

Hours of Duty:
Rotating 10 and 12-hour shifts; days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
